DANIEL BLANCO
Forged artistically in the underground post-industrial landscape of Birmingham (United Kingdom), Daniel Blanco Albert has developed a unique voice in his approach to music composition. His experience both composing music for theatre and co-founding and co-directing the company Infinite Opera, is clearly embedded in his work. In them, theatricality, collaboration and interdisciplinarity play an important role; being at the same time subtly spiced with elements of humour and subversion.
With Infinite Opera as a platform, Daniel has specialised in the composition of chamber operas, created with the focus on the use of new spaces, the creation of new audiences, and the integration of new topics for the operatic genre. Good examples of this are the operas Besse, known as the beer opera, and created in collaboration with the craft brewery Digbrew Co; The Flowering Desert, an opera designed to be performed at planetariums and composed integrating data from the research on the exoplanetary system TRAPPIST-1; or Entanglement! An Entropic Tale, a physics dissemination opera known as the "Romeo and Juliet of particle physics", which pedagogically showcases most of modern physics.
